Despite the worldwide crisis with its extreme impact on the order income in the machine tool industry - not only with regard to financial aspects - the Chinese market is one of the few still showing increasing demands. Often, tender conditions of Chinese companies require locally manufactured machines, i.e. machines built in China. Thus HerkulesGroup decided to invest and have a our own production facility located in China, not only for being able to compete for such local projects but also in order to increase our global leadership on the heavy machine tool building market.

On 9th of August 2009 a signing ceremony was celebrated in Jiaxing around 100 km south of Shanghai, constituting the acquisition of a majority stake in the private enterprise Yatai NC Co. Ltd. More than 100 guests - including politicians, financiers, and delegates of the companies - attended this event that had its highlight when Chief Executive Officers Mr. Cao, Mr. Chen and Mr. Christoph Thoma signed the contract.

With more than 120 employees, Yatai is an important contract manufacturer not only for local but also for international companies and in addition has excellent references for successful general overhauls of machine tools.

No jobs will be shifted from Germany to China. "Contrary to that" assures Christoph Thoma during the contract signing ceremony: "We will have to deliver components to China to build machines that would not have been ordered with Herkules without the local enterprise Yatai."
